Confirmation is a time when students, normally, but not always, those in 6th-8th grades, learn about their faith through exploration and information. The goal is that after three years of study, confirmands will then be able to stand in front of the congregation to claim their faith for themselves. We normally confirm students on the last Sunday of October, Reformation Day, normally of the 9th grade year.
For the Confirmation Student:
In baptism, if you have been baptized, others made promises on your behalf to raise you in the faith. Now, it will be your turn to make those promises for yourself. Our program is quite fun. During each monthly meeting on the third Sunday of the month, we take two hours to watch videos, play games, do crafts, have discussions, and do other activities. Also, you will be assigned a mentor: another adult in the congregation to encourage you in your faith and life.
We are on a three year cycle.
Year A (2012-2013; 2015-2016): The Bible and Creed
Year B (2013-2014; 2016-2017): Discipleship, Lord’s Prayer, and Jesus
Year C (2014-2015; 2017-2018): Ten Commandments, Other Beliefs, Tough Questions, and Lutheranism
